Ombudsman’s Determination

Outcome

Mr P’s complaint against JLT is partly upheld. To put matters right, JLT shall:

  • refund Mr P the £300 he paid for the cash equivalent transfer value (CETV) quotation he was sent in February 2018 (the February 2018 Quotation); and

  • pay Mr P £1,000 for the serious distress and inconvenience he has suffered due to its maladministration, in sending him incorrect CETV quotations.

Complaint summary

Mr P has complained about the incorrect CETV quotations provided by JLT between May 2013 and February 2018. He asserts that he relied on the February 2018 Quotation to base his decision to accept voluntary redundancy from his employer and that he has incurred a financial loss as a direct result.
