Permanent Chair appointed at TPO

Date:

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has today announced the permanent appointment of Caroline Rookes as the Chair of The Pensions Ombudsman (TPO). Caroline was appointed as interim Chair of TPO in September 2019 in response to the Tailored Review recommendations.

Anthony Arter, Pensions Ombudsman said:

“I am delighted that Caroline has been appointed as the permanent Chair of TPO. Caroline joined us on 1 September as the interim Chair and in that time has developed a deep understanding of the organisation and built excellent relationships with the Senior Leadership Team and other colleagues. Her breadth of knowledge has proved to be invaluable in taking the organisation forward as we implement the recommendations in the Tailored Review and face new challenges that the Covid-19 pandemic has raised.”

Caroline Rookes, Chair of TPO stated:

“I am very pleased and honoured to have been appointed as Chair of The Pensions Ombudsman. I have very much enjoyed working with Anthony and his colleagues during my period as interim Chair. I am delighted that I will be continuing to work with them as they continue to deliver this vital service to pension scheme members and face the combined challenges of transforming the organisation following the Tailored Review and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.”
