Ombudsman’s Determination
Outcome
I do not uphold Mrs N’s complaint and no further action is required by Teachers’ Pensions.
My reasons for reaching this decision are explained in more detail below.
Complaint summary
Ms N complains that Teachers’ Pensions are able to reclaim an overpayment that occurred between 2009 and 2013, after she returned to work following retirement. Teachers’ Pensions have withheld her additional lump sum of £12,890.15 as part of the recovery process and the net overpayment is £37,830.19.
