Scottish Widows Personal Pension Plan (PO-11935)
Ombudsman’s Determination
Outcome
I do not uphold Mr D’s complaint and no further action is required by Scottish Widows Ltd.
My reasons for reaching this decision are explained in more detail below.
Complaint summary
Mr D complains that Scottish Widows failed to process his application to contract out of the Second State Pension Scheme (S2P) from April 2007 until April 2011. As a result of this, an amount totalling £6,370.56 in national insurance contribution rebates was not invested in the Plan but instead remained in the National Insurance system.
