Ombudsman’s Determination

Outcome

I partly uphold Mr R’s complaint and, to put matters right, XPS shall pay Mr R £1,000 in respect of the serious distress and inconvenience which he has suffered.

Complaint summary

Mr R has complained that XPS incorrectly informed him that his children’s pension would be paid once his university course commenced.

Mr R has argued that his children’s pension should be paid in full for his period of study. He has said that he should also be paid interest, associated costs and compensation for the distress and inconvenience caused.
